Russell Wilson and Ciara Surprise His Mom with a New House for Mother’s Day

Russell Wilson might have won Mother’s Day this year. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback shared a pair of video clips to his Instagram Sunday that showed his mother, Tammy Wilson, “opening” her present: a brand new house. Wilson captioned the clips with a sweet sentiment, writing “All these years you have never asked me for anything…only thing you ever wanted is for me to LOVE. Well thanks for loving us the way you do. This ones for you. I love you momma. #HappyMothersDay #GodIsGood.”

In the video clip, Tammy looks at her son in disbelief as he hands her the keys to the house and says casually, “It’s your house, open the door.” Stunned, she then proceeds to look around at the gathered friends and family members—including Wilson’s wife, Ciara, and their 2-year-old daughter, Sienna Princess—trying to figure out whether the situation is a joke or not. “You lying. Are you serious?!” she finally exclaims as she realizes that the gift is very real. “No, are you serious? For real?…That’s not funny! No, no, no, y’all lying.” In the clip, Wilson then leans over to give her a kiss on the cheek, and she finally walks up the steps and puts the key in the lock to open the front door.

While it’s unclear where Tammy’s newly acquired home is located, Wilson and Ciara live in a $6.7 million waterfront mansion just outside of Seattle, in Bellevue, Washington. Wilson reportedly purchased the abode on Lake Washington in September 2015, just one month after signing a four-year, $87.6 million contract with the Seahawks. The two-story, 10,700-square-foot home features seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, and rests on two-thirds of an acre. Particular features of note include its five fireplaces, numerous skylights, a walk-in pantry, and a spacious wine cellar. This past April, Wilson accepted a four-year, $140 million extension deal to stay with the Seahawks, making him officially the highest-paid player in the NFL, and likely a longtime resident of the Pacific Northwest.
