Colin Kaepernick, Still Blackballed, Sends a Powerful Final Message to NFL Owners

In 2016, Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the playing of the USA’s national anthem prior to an NFL game in a protest against police brutality. It turned out to be the last season Kaepernick played with the league.

The former San Francisco 49ers player has been working as a civil rights activist since then, hoping for another opportunity to play in the NFL.

In a conversation with Sky Sports News, Kaepernick discussed the same, still keeping hope alive for another football stint.

“We’re still training, still pushing,” Kaepernick said. “So hopefully, we’ve just got to get one of these team owners to open up.
“It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”

A talented wide receiver, Kaepernick’s 2016 protests made headlines. A few players followed suit, kneeling alongside Kaepernick during the 49ers games.

Many, however, saw it as disrespect towards the country and the US flag. This became a major political issue with repercussions for Kaepernick.

Colin Kaepernick agreed with those accusing Roger Goodell of hypocrisy over Harrison Butker’s speech

Earlier this year, Kansas City Chiefs star Harrison Butker was under fire for his controversial speech at Benedictine College. Butker spoke about multiple sensitive subjects, including abortion, IVF and even the LBGTQ+ community.

Kaepernick reacted through Instagram, sharing stories that pointed out Roger Goodell’s hypocrisy regarding the former WR and Butker.

Actress Whoopi Goldberg, who shared her views on Butker’s speech, was also quick to compare the situation to Colin Kaepernick:

“These are his beliefs and he’s welcome to them. I don’t have to accept them. In the same way, we want respect when Colin Kaepernick takes a knee, we want to give respect to people whose ideas are different from ours. I’m OK with him saying whatever he said.”

That being said, Kaepernick could also be in the talks for a possible coaching job with Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers. Harbaugh was coach when Kaepernick played for the Niners.
