San Francisco 49ers superstar Nick Bosa has been in hot water over the past week. He gatecrashed teammates George Kittle, Brock Purdy, and Isaac Guerendo’s postgame interview following their win over the Dallas Cowboys while sporting a hat that read ‘Make America Great Again,’ showcasing his support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Bosa refused to answer questions about it in his post-game press conference, which led to even more criticism from fans and analysts alike.
Former ESPN host Jemele Hill also called out Bosa for not explaining why he was backing Trump. She shared a clip on X of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James fielding questions from reporters about his decision to back Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and wrote:
“Oh look, LeBron was asked about a public political statement that he made and he explained IN DETAIL why he did it. Nick Bosa doesn’t have the guts to do this.”
Jemele Hill wasn’t the only one to call out Nick Bosa for refusing to elaborate on why he was backing Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election. Famed quarterback coach Quincy Avery also slammed the 49ers star on X and did not mince words. He wrote:
“Also just want to be clear Nick Bosa is a weak a*s dude. You can do what you want but you wanted to make a statement do it with a microphone in front of you.”
Former 49ers star Colin Kaepernick’s girlfriend Nessa Diab did not directly call out Bosa but shared the clip of him crashing Kittle’s post-game interview on her Instagram stories and captioned it, “#IMWITHKAP, #STILLWITHKAP.”
The quarterback infamously kneeled during the national anthem to protest against police brutality during the 2016 NFL season and has since not played in the league. He sued team owners for colluding and blackballing him from the NFL for his political stance. The case was settled out of court in 2019.
The league isn’t letting Bosa’s stunt slide and has reportedly opened an investigation. They are yet to announce their verdict, but CBS Sports’ NFL insider Jonathan Jones revealed that they wouldn’t be suspended for his antics.
The controversial moment has taken a life of its own and completely overshadowed the 49ers’ gritty display against the Cowboys.
